National Director Attends Haggai Institute in Hawaii

National Director Eugene Guzon left for Maui, Hawaii last June 4, 2006 to attend Haggai Institute's Advanced Leadership Training. He will be back by July 2. It is the National Director's desire that more and more of our leaders will be able to receive additional training from Haggai Institute. So far, the following have already attended Haggai Institute's leadership trainings namely: Dr. Rey Taniajura, Ptr. Andrew Teng, Ptr. Len Joson, Dr. & Mrs. Joe Manzano, Ptr. Rex Dela Pena, Ptr. George Escara. Let us remember our National Director and his family in our prayers at this time.

National Office Financial Officer Conducts Seminar in Bicol

Mrs. Aileen Orogo of the Financial Services at the WCG Philippines national office conducted financial management seminars in the Bicol region this past weekend beginning with the pastoral team of the Daet Church in Camarines Norte on June 17.

On June 18, accompanied by Lester Santibanez and Orly Osillos, Mrs. Orogo conducted the same seminar to the combined pastoral teams of Camarines Sur and Albay provinces.

On June 19, the group from the national office accompanied by Dr. Joe Manzano and Ptr. Rolando Alivio proceeded to Aroroy, Masbate taking a boat ride to Masbate City. The group spent two days and one night with the Aroroy brethren. Lester Santibanez celebrated his birthday in Aroroy.

These financial management seminars are being conducted (and will be conducted) as the WCG Philippines moves toward decentralizing its financial management setup from the national office to the local churches. It is hoped that this setup will eventually benefit the local churches more and more. Mrs. Orogo is scheduled to conduct the same seminar in Mindanao this coming July 15. All pastoral teams are earnestly requested to attend. --Orly Osillos

Southeastern and Southwestern Mindanao Pastoral Meetings, New Assignments

Some 19 pastoral team members, pastors and leaders of the local churches of Davao City, Tagum City, Digos City, Kidapawan City and Purok Elisan gathered for a regional meeting last Saturday, June 17 at the Digos City Church meeting hall to renew bonds with God, with their fellow pastors and to get re-organized for the smooth functioning of the local churches. At the end of the meeting, Area Supt. Len Joson prayed over and commissioned the following to their new roles: Ptr. Oscar Baslao as pastor for Tagum City Church and Pantukan OBS, Dr. Boy Garcia as pastor for Digos City Church and Samal Island OBS, Rey Gapul as pastor for Kidapawan City Church, and Ptr. Joe Salvador as pastor for Purok Elisan Church and Pamantingan OBS. Area Supt. Len Joson is also now the senior pastor for Davao City Church for over two months now upon the request of Ptr. Oscar Baslao to rest from this post.

In a related development, newly-appointed senior pastor for Zamboanga City Church and Labuan OBS, Ptr. Bert Colona, conducted a series of consultations this weekend with the Zamboanga brethren to re-focus the local church to the great commission. Due to a request from former senior pastor Joven Jaralve to rest from his post, Area Supt. Len Joson appointed Ptr. Bert Colona to assume this post in addition to his current post as the senior pastor for our Ipil Church (or the Barandilla Community Fellowship). Please pray for all the men and women leaders of our churches here in Mindanao.
