National Director in US for Mission Developer's Conference

February 15 -- "We are done with the US District conference and Mission Developers meeting. Quite hectic for the back to back conferences and for all the other assignments. I will be going to the Newlife Church this Sunday.

SEP Staff Training in Cagayan de Oro

Some 12 to 15 youths joined the 3-day SEP staff training last February 7 to 9 conducted by Pastor Rex Dela Pena in preparation for the Summer Enrichment Program (SEP) planned for youths in Mindanao. Various topics were discussed by Pastor Rex related to the youths, and especially on being a staff member at SEP.

We may need more volunteer SEP staff from other areas like those in the Visayas. If interested, please inform Pastor Rex Dela Pena.

Funding for SEP in Mindanao has always been a yearly challenge and has always been a work of faith. We have therefore decided to have one SEP camp site for Mindanao this year to be held at Initao, Misamis Oriental.

As we had done for 6 years now, local churches in Mindanao are again requested to help fund our SEP this May 1-4. With God's favor upon us, we can do it again this year and reach out the youths with the gospel.

For planning purposes, all Mindanao pastors are requested to please inform Pastor Rollen Olango of your local church's support as soon as possible. Thank you for your continued prayers and support. --Mindanao Area Superintendent

Bukidnon Pastors Meeting Held

A pastors meeting was convened by the Mindanao Area Superintendent in Maramag, Bukidnon February 9 to discuss an emerging trend among the brethren from this area. It has been observed that many people (not just WCG brethren) from Bukidnon and nearby provinces are going to Thailand and nearby countries like Cambodia to look for work there especially as teachers. As our country continues to face economic difficulties, the national trend for Filipinos to look for work overseas is unstoppable.

Several brethren are already scheduled to go to Thailand in the coming weeks and months ahead. We may end up with a Filipino local church in Thailand in the coming years ahead similar to that in Dubai as our brethren flock to this neighboring country. Currently, we now have a small group meeting regularly in Thailand (see photo at right). The missions meeting was held to sort out and discuss these matters and to see where God is leading his people in Bukidnon.
