PEOS Held, TESOL Course Launched in Baguio City Church

Twenty-one members of the Baguio City congregation of the Worldwide Church of God (WCG) attended a Pre-Employment Orientation Seminar or PEOS on Sunday, April 6. The seminar was held at the building where the church meets in La Trinidad, Benguet.

In a related development, eleven other members of the Baguio church and several guests participated in the launching of the Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages or TESOL on April 7 and 8. Three other members are set to join the classes when it formally opens on April 14. Dr. Rey Taniajura opened the TESOL course with sessions on lesson planning based on the Vella Approach to Teaching. WCG Philippines conducts TESOL to equip its members who are interested to do mission work in the 10/40 window countries. Already several church members are doing mission in some countries in Asia as TESOL teachers. The formal TESOL classes will be handled by Ms. Hilda Babol of the Living Word Fellowship of the WCG in Baao, Camarines Sur. Ms. Babol has conducted TESOL classes for WCG churches in Cebu City, Camarines Sur, Bukidnon and Cagayan de Oro City. She has also taught English to inmates in Thailand.

Visayas Area Superintendent Visits Bohol

AS George Escara visited Bohol April 4-6, 2008, as part of his denominational oversight of the congregation in Tagbilaran City and the province of Bohol. His first task was to conduct a portion of the Orientation Course for Pastoral Team members on Friday evening, April 4th, when he presented an overview of the course and explained the WCG Code of Ethics for Elders. Early next day, he traveled with Ptr Romy Pusta to San Francisco, Ubay, where he encouraged brethren in his message on God's Love and his faithfulness to his promises. The visit was made even more memorable by the dedication and blessing of 7 children, most of whom were of non-WCG parents.

Sunday saw the AS giving a power point sermon in the Tagbilaran City Church on "Our Goal: Christ Formed in Us" where he stressed Conversion, Doctrinal Nurture, Heart Nurture and Behavioral Change as necessary steps to take in achieving such goal. Ptr. George also recommissioned and awarded certificates to the 5 Pastoral Team members namely, Romeo Pusta, Terencio Naranjo, Julian Curambao, Virgie Galope and Eugenia Pelino.

As scheduled, a Pre-Employment Orientation Seminar (PEOS) was conducted by the AS together with Ptr. Romy starting at 12:30 PM up to early evening. 16 people were blessed to participate in this informative, helpful and touching seminar which can be a vehicle to minister to others in the community. --Pastor Romy Pusta

Calling all children's ministry heads and teachers!

We will have our DVBS teacher training for our churches here in Metro Manila on APRIL 19, Saturday 9Am - 4Pm at the WCG National Office.  Please let us know the names of your church representatives who will be trained by Mrs. Glenda Galo.  DVBS has been used by many of our congregations to teach the Bible to the kids as part of their community outreach during the summer.

Please sign up and take advantage of this opportunity by calling Abi Natividad 4262294 at the WCG National office to signify your intent to join.  For a fee of P100, you will get a very extensive training and even lunch will be provided to the participants.  Let us maximize the time that we have during this summer to reach out to the kids and to their families through DVBS. --Rex Dela Pena

SEP Staff Training

The training for the 2008 SEP Staff has started last sunday.  The focus of the youth ministry /staff training will be on FAMILY-BASED youth ministry model. For those who missed the training last Sunday, we will try to make the materials available online for easier access. The next SEP staff training will be on the following dates: APRIL 20, APRIL 27, May 4,
May 11 - for counselors and teaching demonstrations.
Camper Forms

We have not yet received any application forms at this time.  Please encourage your campers to submit the forms and not wait at the last minute.  If we do not receive at least 60 camper applications by May 5, it would drastically affect the planning, scheduling and staffing of the SEP.

Let us pray for the rest of the provisions that our campers and our staff need to be at SEP.  Let us pray for the rest of the camp organizers nationwide who are taking care of all these details in creating this camp environment for our campers. --Rex Dela Pena

Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you." (2 Thessalonians 3:1)
